Kidd Kraddick in the Morning can be heard on more than 75 stations in the US and on military bases around the world, but you used to be out of luck if you moved away from a city that carries it. Having an app makes it that much easier to keep a global audience satisfied.

When we were looking at app building platforms, we wanted something that was like WordPress—something simple, but powerful. Numerous customization options were a major factor…we don’t like looking like the next guy. Finally, it needed to be cost-effective, work on both iOS and Android, and JUST WORK. A few companies did some of that. ShoutEm did ALL of it.

The way YouTube channels are presented is SLICK. And not having to do things twice (once for iOS and once for Android) is a nice time-saver. Plus, the Mobilizer app that lets you test before you go live is priceless!

I wanted an app that would become a norm in a golfer’s routine—something that thousands of golfers would use on a daily basis. So I created Golf Mobile US, which has all the golf information you need in one convenient spot. Golfers can find courses, reviews, pro tips, news, and all sorts of other cool stuff. The app does all the searching for you.

We wanted to make it easier for fans to access the huge amount of content Jukebox the Ghost is producing, from the album to official videos, bonus tracks, and behind-the-scenes photos.

Charlevoix is a small resort community in Michigan (year-round population of approx. 3,000), but our summer population swells to nearly 30,000, and we wanted an app to help you get the most out of your visit here. So we created the Downtown Charlevoix app with ShoutEm.

ShoutEm’s platform allows us to make real-time updates to our business directory and calendar of events. The minute a new retailer or restaurant joins our downtown, any directories or maps we’ve printed are out-of-date—but not our app.

ShoutEm’s development and pricing structure also allowed us to build and then “touch and feel” the app with minimal risk, which is crucial for a local government like us. We built the app with just a small monthly investment and my own time. And it’s paid off—we’ll save thousands of dollars annually in printing costs as we transition away from a reliance on our printed directory and towards the app.

The idea behind the Vinyl District app was to create something that helped me, and like-minded people, find record stores in unfamiliar places. It all stems from our website of the same name, which we like to think of as a virtual trip to any record store. The app actually helps take you there in person.

ShoutEm works for me because they are receptive to ideas and willing to try things that will benefit everyone. The feature set is also great. My personal favorites are the store finder and the many social modules. The GPS-based store locator is an invaluable resource. Couple that with the real time ability to sign in at any store and share your finds on Facebook, Twitter, or Foursquare and you’re building a bedrock of community among the record store…fetishists.

The app does everything it was designed to do quite well—anything else would just be a bonus.

I am a stand-up comedian. Before creating the Open Mic List app, I was looking for the tools necessary to perform on stage as much as possible. There was nothing out there. No mobile-optimized databases of open mics, no free apps worth using, no paid apps with exactly what I needed.
